Say hi to Pepper! Pepper is a gorgeous, purebred, female German Shepherd who just turned 7-months-old on June 1st. She is spayed, chipped and up to date on her shots. Pepper came to us directly from a breeder who wanted to get rid of her due to some physical issues. Her back legs have a congenital defect that is not surgically fixable, per both the vet & a neurologist. So far, it causes her no pain and definitely doesn’t slow her down from running and keeping up with the other dogs in her foster home. She has come up with her own way of running and hopping and loves the outdoors. She is house trained and does well in the car.

The neurologist and vet have no idea how long she will thrive and live her best life …at some point some back wheels will be needed (and would be needed now for long walks). She may eventually have incontinence issues (she’s fine now) but they can’t judge how many good years she may have before that and/or pain sneaks in.

She loves to eat and whines like a German Shepherd but is a good girl! She deserves a home that could give her a great life for as long as possible and let her go when it might be too painful for her.

Full transparency…she is awkward and clumsy and falls a lot…a LOT. She can’t get on furniture or beds. She knocks bowls and water over…but you kinda get used to it. Pepper is a total love and someone will be very lucky to have her in their life!
