Meet Max, an adoptable, senior Siberian Husky!
Max is a 12-year-old purebred Siberian Husky who came to RR last month through no fault of his own. Born in September 2010, this Husky is still very active, happy and eager to romp around under the sunshine! When Max first arrived to rescue, he wasn’t sure for the first few days but quickly found himself at ease with very loving, patient and supportive foster parents. In no time, Max was running beside resident dogs in the backyard with a loose tongue flapping in the wind with contentment! He weighs 58 lbs. and tested negative for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis, which is wonderful! His bloodwork results all came back normal – music to our ears! He’s now neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. The vet let us know his teeth looked remarkable for his age and a dental under anesthesia was not medically necessary. Max is officially ready for adoption! While Max has done well around small humans, we’d love to see him in a home where he can enjoy his remaining time without young children hanging onto him or getting in his face.
True to the breed, Max is an effective communicator and will watch you for queues. He can be stubborn by laying in the grass and staring at you while you can him inside. We have not observed any reactivity or resource guarding. He loves walks, playing with toys, and tug of war. He also sleeps a lot because of his age. He was professionally groomed and they reported he was able to be handled without issue. It is imperative that Max’s new human brush out his coat consistently or have him groomed monthly to keep him comfortable. It took some time as nothing had been done at time of intake, resulting in lots of patience and TLC to get through matting. Max has been observed around cats and he did not chase them. If his photos speak to you, please submit a pre-adoption app to express interest! Let’s get this gentleman a great retirement home!
