Meet DJ! He is a 1 year old Yorkie mix currently weighing 11.5 lbs.

DJ still has pure terrier puppy energy. He loves to play with squeaky toys, enjoys tug of war most of all, and is a big fan of belly rubs!

He was said to have previously lived with children and cats, however, upon coming in to rescue, DJ has shown to be fearful of anything new to him (children and cats included). It was very clear that he initially had zero social skills when it comes to new people and situations. He has been learning from the resident dogs in his foster home, and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs his size. However, at this time he is still learning cues and boundaries, and can easily get jealous of other dogs when he wants attention. His foster family is working with him to be less scared of new things, and he has made great progress so far. Currently he can be slow to trust humans, but once you have gained his trust he will want to be loyally by your side at all times.

DJ is mostly potty trained. He enjoys running around in a fenced in yard, and his foster family is assessing and working on his leash skills. If overly anxious/stressed/excited, he has had the occasional accident in the house, so that is a work in progress. When it comes to car rides, DJ is a bit of a wild child wanting to be with his human(s), so a doggie seatbelt is necessary. He is not the biggest fan of his crate, but he will eventually settle down and snooze at night or when the humans are away at work.

DJ is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on monthly flea/tick preventative and is microchipped. He is ready to find a furever home that understands he’s still got some things to fully learn, but in helping him do so he will have a lifetime of love and smiles to give in return!
