Say hello to Bubbles! Bubbles is a sweet, full 60 lb., female Standard Poodle, who is approx. 7 years old. She was rescued from a puppy mill at around 5 years old; she had been used as a mama, breeding who knows how many litters.
Bubbles was never really socialized for the first 5 years of her life, so sometimes she has a hard time reading social signals, as one would expect, being used constantly for breeding. If she feels comfortable around you, she is SUPER bubbly and playful, especially when running around in the backyard in the beautiful weather. If she feels uncomfortable, she will go to her safe spot, generally a room upstairs, removed from all the hubbub and hang out by herself. She doesn’t understand when other pups don’t want to play with her, it doesn’t make sense in her mind, so if you have a particular resident pup, she may not be a good fit.
She is wonderful with children of all sizes and ages. She LOVES to go for walks. She eats well and has some beautiful, dark grey spots in her super curly hair. She needs a lot of brushing, or frequent grooming to prevent matting. Sometimes, she’ll surprise you with a special burp in the face.
Bubbles really needs to understand that you are a safe space to feel comfortable around, but can be easily spooked by loud noises and things she’s never seen before. Sometimes her anxiety presents itself in the form of paw licking and she can create hot spots if they are not tended to quickly. If left alone for long periods of time, she has been known to chew on random things she finds around the house. She seems to find more comfort around women, but is very friendly around men, too.
She travels well in the car and sleeps on the floor next to the bed through the night, sometimes with very entertaining dreams going on in her sweet mind. She is spayed, potty trained, up to date on vaccines, on monthly flea/tick preventative and is microchipped.
