Project Chesapeake is a rescue of 23 adult, former puppy mill dogs, saved in conjunction with one of our local shelter partners. Prior to their arrival, these pups had never lived indoors, never had a family of their own and have never received love & affection. Now, they are safely in foster homes learning what being a family member is like. They arrived is various stages of distress, despair & fear. As they decompress & become acclimated to their newfound freedom, they will be ready to find their forever homes. All are requiring a fully fenced yard given that they cannot be leash walked.
This is Barclay! He is a 4 year old, male, Lhasa Apso mix who came to us completely shaved, trembling, and terrified. Within 24 hours he was joyfully greeting his human foster brother, tail wagging and bright-eyed. Barclay has become a delightful, little guy. Now that his hair is growing in, we can see he is tri-colored and will be just beautiful. He is dog friendly, current on vaccines and will be neutered & microchipped prior to adoption. Barclay has learned how to leash walk with a harness and can do steps like a pro. He is a pretty confident guy now & is a real sweetheart.
