PLEASE NOTE: Fosters have 14 days to decide if they wish to “foster fail” and adopt their foster dog!
Say hello to Axle! Axle is a handsome, approx. 18-month-old, male Bull Terrier. This guy is ready for a family of his own!
Some key points:
*crate trained
*house broken
*walks well on a leash
*neutered
*loves fetch AND will release the ball when prompted
*good with dogs though not recommended for strictly dominant dogs
*did okay meeting a cat and would likely do fine with a calm cat who likes dogs.
*loves kids
*he will protect your house! You must be careful with people just walking in. Have treats ready.
*very food motivated. Will work his butt off for treats. Highly trainable!
*knows sit already, and eagerly learning the wait command. Very eager to please.
*loves stuffy toys but will shred them! Needs supervision with these types of toys
The ideal home for Axle is someone semi-active with an alpha personality. These dogs will rule the house if you do not! A couple bouts of fetch a day usually is enough for these thick bois and some walkies thrown in. Adjust as needed depending on pent up energy levels. White bull terriers tend to have allergy issues so be prepared for that down the road, if it arises. Bull terriers also tend to have feet issues, nails in particular. Splitting and broken nails and yeast problems. Breed experience households preferred but will make exceptions for the right owners willing to do their research and willing to learn.
He’s not really a dominant dog but as anyone who has experience with bull terriers knows, some of their behaviors can be perceived as dominant by other dominant dogs. If there is a dominant dog in the potential adopters home, it won’t work for Axle since we don’t want to set this sweet guy up for failure.
