We took in 4 dogs from Texas on September 14th. These dogs were in the shelter system PRIOR to Hurricane Harvey in late August and by bringing them up here, we are making room in the TX shelters for any displaced pets from the storm to remain in TX. Three of the four furbabies we’ve taken in are Heartworm positive: Rosebud (Min Pin), Autumn (Chihuahua) and Mr. Nibbles (Shih Tzu).  The 4th dog, Scooter (Terrier mix), is HW neg.

If you have any interest in donating towards their Heartworm treatment, we would be so grateful. As always, your contributions are tax-deductible. We are a federally recognized charity registered in the State of Delaware.

Today’s Adoption Event at Concord Pet was a lot of fun, especially for the dogs!  Pearl (Boxer), Mia (Westie mix) and Claudia (Lab mix) had a blast saying hello to everyone that stopped by.  Hopefully, they will each be in the furever homesoon!

We are partnering with Rockwall Pets to bring 55 animals to Delaware from Texas.

There will be 40 dogs and 15 cats which will be split amongst our organization, Grass Roots RescueOne Dog More and Compassion For Cats of Delaware.

Our rescue team along with the founder of Rescue Well, will be traveling in 2 climate controlled vans. Show Your Soft Side was talking with a very well known Philadelphia Eagles “Softie” and mentioned our plan to move TX animals. Graciously, Mr. Anonymous and his wife stepped up to cover our transportation costs including gas and tolls! Like us, they believe these animals deserve love and compassion. Talk about heroes! When I asked if we could share their kind gesture, they said recognition was not necessary.

To follow suit, Animal Veterinary Center is donating 55 wellness exams for free to make sure each of these furbabies are ready for a fresh start here in Delaware upon arrival.

The community is truly stepping up and it is an honor to be involved in animal welfare during this time of need.

More to follow over the next 48 hours…

Yesterday, one of our team members went undercover to an Amish Puppy Mill to rescue three pups.  These three have spent their entire lives living in cages and breeding litter after litter. They’ve never experienced love, affection or even a bath!  That’s all changed now.  Welcome to Renee’s Rescues, Pearl (6 yr. old female Boxer), Twinkie (7 year old female Yorkie) and Krimpet (8 year old male Maltese)!  You are going to enjoy the rest of your life now!

BearBear came to us with possibly the worst dental mess we had ever seen. And the poor little guy was in pain as well.

We’re happy to share he is now pain-free. He’s acclimating to life without teeth but his spirits are better than ever. He’s like a brand new dog & he’s getting ready to join our list of adoptable pups!

He’s listening to the sound of the rain from the back porch at his foster mama’s house right now.

“Your time was up at the shelter but I looked into your eyes and knew. This was not how it was going to end.”

Four puppies came up on transport from a shelter in North Carolina early Saturday morning.  Now they have a better chance to find their furever homes.

Welcome to rescue, Vann, Claudia, Duster and Willy!
