Meet Grogu, a 5 year old, male Chihuahua mix that came into rescue from a bad situation with a bunch of his friends. He arrived underweight, but is an eating machine and currently weighs 12.5 lbs. (he continues to work towards his goal weight of 13.5 lbs.) which is easy for a guy that loves all of the snackies!)

Grogu is an absolute sweetheart that has so much love to give. He is still learning how to be a dog a bit, but he is always excited to cuddle and give kisses. He absolutely can command a room with his love of every and all toys and his fun spinning dance he does for treats and attention. He gets very excited for his humans and to show affection. Grogu also has A LOT to say – he will let you know when he wants pets (chin scratchies and belly rubs are his favorite) and when you had a package delivered. He is slightly spooked by unfamiliar noises and people passing by, but that has improved since being in his foster home and will only get better with time. Once in the car, he does great for car rides. He is a big fan of his crate, but also is happy to hang in a dog bed or in bed with a human (bonus points if he has blankets to burrow under). He seemed to come into rescue puppy pad trained so he does use them in the house like the resident dogs do from time to time, and is picking up going potty outside splendidly. He is still unsure about being on a leash, so a fenced in yard is a must for him.

Grogu does well with other dogs his size, larger dogs unknown, but he would also be a great solo dog because of the amount of attention he demands. Cats are not recommended unless they have their own safe space as he loves to bark at and chase the more active cats in his foster home. As far as kids, he has done well with children of all ages at adoption events – however due to his size and excitement smaller kiddos are not recommended.

The only thing Grogu loves more than humans is grass. From rolling around in it to snacking on it, he is obsessed. Because of this and his seemingly sensitive tummy, he is on a probiotic (Fortiflora) daily with his breakfast and an OTC antacid as needed. He initially was noted to have a low grade heart murmur, but as time has gone on it has not been easily heard, so potentially a false alarm but something to keep an eye on down the road. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and is on a monthly flea and tick preventative.
