What is a home visit and why is it required?

Renee’s Rescues requires a home visit before we will let any dog be fostered or adopted. It is an in-home pre-adoption interview. You will be visited by a Renee’s Rescue volunteer that will verify the information provided on the adoption application as well as assess the home for safety and observe other pets that may live in the home.

Why is the adoption fee so high?

Renee’s Rescues charges $125-$500 for dog adoptions, depending on their age. This may seem like a lot, but when you take into consideration the amount of money we spend to take care of each dog, it really is very minimal. Our Fosters parents give the dog lots of love, socialization, and training. They are also fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped prior to adoption. Because our mission is mainly puppy mill dogs, we could spend as much as $750 on dental work alone if we found it medically necessary. In addition to all medical care we also send our dogs home with a collar, leash, and toys.

I’m unable to foster or adopt. How else can I help?

Thank you for the interest! We have numerous needs throughout the year including pet food and pet supplies. In addition, we are always looking for help with animal transport. This can vary. Some examples include:

  • Taking an animal to the vet
  • Picking up an animal from an open-admissions shelter and bringing them to to their foster home
  • Bringing animals to and from adoption events

Do you accept monetary donations?

We will gladly accept a one time or recurring donation. Every little bit helps and goes a long way. Learn more about donations here.
